Sometimes dysmenorrhea is associated along with more complex medical condition like endometriosis, uterine fibroids or pelvic inflammatory disease.

 

Treatment of dysmenorrhea includes over the counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) like ibuprofen or naproxen. Anti-prostaglandins drugs are also used to reduce cramping in the uterus, lighten the flow of blood, and relieve discomfort during menstrual cramps. Some of the non-medical options include soaking in a hot tub, applying hot water bag on the lower abdomen. Recent researches in the Imperial College of London suggest that intake of chamomile tea may reduce the pain by relaxing the uterus.

 

  • Cardiovascular Disease

Cardiovascular disease or heart disease is the leading cause of death among women. Though men are considered more susceptible to heart disease, every year more women die of heart disease than the men. The symptoms of coronary heart disease and heart attack are also different in case of women than men. They may include chest pain, discomfort in the chest, shortness of breath, cold sweat and pain in the arm, neck, and jaw. Though heart attack is fatal, it can be prevented to a large extent by leading a healthy lifestyle. Intake of healthy and less oily foods, daily exercise, reduction in weight, reduce stress, quit smoking, limit the intake of alcohol and regular blood pressure monitor are some of the ways to prevent cardiovascular diseases.

Acne occurs when the secretions from your sebaceous glands plug the tiny openings of hair follicles. Most of the women suffer from this condition at some point in their life. Sometimes, acne takes the form of blackheads, where the swelling develops into tender, fluid-filled inflammations. They are also known as pimples. They can be quite painful at times. The best treatment is to inhibit the sebum production and bacterial growth on the skin. Topical application of cover-up water based cosmetic creams may prove helpful. The skin should be kept clean by regular washing with an antiseptic face-wash.
